5. Complete
Step 1: Connect Your Trezor Device
To begin the secure initialization process, please ensure you have your official Trezor device and the USB cable provided in the packaging.
This process must be performed in a private, secure environment, free from observation by others. The security of your entire digital fortune depends on the integrity of this initial setup.
Important Security Precaution:
NEVER connect your device to a computer you do not fully trust or one that is public. Verify the URL in your browser is correct: `trezor.io/start`.
We will never ask you to input your recovery seed directly into your computer. Any software requesting this is malicious.
Locate the provided USB-C or Micro-USB cable.
Plug the cable securely into your Trezor device.
Plug the other end into a trusted USB port on your desktop or laptop computer.
The device screen should light up and display the "Welcome" message, or a similar initialization prompt.
Once connected and displaying the prompt, click the button below to proceed.

Step 2: Firmware Verification & Installation
Your Trezor device operates on highly specialized firmware. This step verifies that your device has the latest, official, signed firmware from SatoshiLabs.
If the device is new, we will install the base firmware. Do NOT disconnect the device during this process. Interruption can result in a bricked device requiring service.
Current Device Status:
Firmware Missing
Latest Available Version:
2.6.4 (Official)
Log: Initiating handshake...
Installation Progress:
NOTE: The firmware installation is cryptographically secured. If the signature check fails, the installation will halt, and an error message will be displayed on both your computer and the Trezor screen.
Step 3: Choose Wallet Setup Method
You have two options for setting up your wallet. Choose carefully. If you are setting up a brand-new device, select "Create New Wallet." If you are migrating funds from a previous device, select "Recover Wallet" using your existing Recovery Seed.
Create New Wallet
Generates a brand new, unique 12, 18, or 24-word Recovery Seed. This is the standard, recommended path for first-time users.
Recover Existing Wallet
Allows you to input your existing Recovery Seed directly into the device to restore access to your funds. Use this only if you are restoring.
Chosen Option Summary:
Details will appear here after selection.
Step 4: Set PIN and Passphrase
The PIN protects your device from unauthorized physical access. The Passphrase (BIP-39) creates a hidden wallet, providing an extra, highly robust layer of security against advanced attacks.
PIN Creation
You will be asked to select a PIN (4-9 digits) directly on your Trezor device. The PIN layout is randomized on the computer screen to protect against keyloggers.
Passphrase (Optional but Recommended)
The Passphrase adds a 13th/25th word to your Recovery Seed. It is NOT stored on the device. Losing this Passphrase means losing access to your funds, even if you have the Recovery Seed. Memorize it securely.
WARNING: Never store your PIN or Passphrase on a digital device (computer, phone, cloud). Paper or memory storage only.
Step 5: Backup Your Recovery Seed
This is the single most important action in this entire setup. Your Recovery Seed is the master key to your funds. If your Trezor is lost, stolen, or destroyed, this seed is the ONLY way to recover your assets.
🔴 CRITICAL WARNING: Loss of Seed = Permanent Loss of Funds 🔴
Write down the 12/18/24 words displayed on your Trezor's screen **in the exact order** onto the provided paper recovery card. Double-check every word for spelling accuracy.
DO NOT take photos. DO NOT save it digitally. DO NOT use a printer. Store this card in a separate, secure, and fireproof location.
The Trezor software will now verify a few words to confirm your backup's integrity. Follow the prompts on your device screen.
🎉 Congratulations! Setup Complete! 🎉
Your Trezor device is now initialized, secured with a PIN, loaded with official firmware, and your Recovery Seed is backed up.
You have successfully secured your private keys and are now ready to use the Trezor Suite application to manage your cryptocurrencies. Remember, the safest place for your recovery seed is offline and known only to you. We are unable to assist in recovery if you lose both your device and your seed.
For ongoing support and to access your wallet, please download and use the official Trezor Suite desktop application or mobile app. Do not use unverified third-party web wallets.
